Carb jetting for Arrow Pipe?
 

Morning guys

I've recently purchased a full Arrow exhaust system for my bike and am itching to get it installed :D

I've had a couple of quotes to get the bike set up on a Dyno, and frankly at this point in time I just can't justify the £400 -£500 that it will likely cost.

I've been doing some research on here and SVRider and it seems I can probably get reasonably close to the correct jetting by just buying the parts I need individually and rejetting the carbs.

I don't really want to spend £40 + on a K&N filter just to butcher it, so I'm thinking of just opening up the standard filter (ala Snorkelectomy). Along with this I'm thinking either 152.5 or 155 main jets, leaving the pilots alone and moving the needle clips up a notch along with 2.5 turns on the A/F screws.

Granted, I could probably leave the filter alone and just up the mains jet size slightly from stock to get the bike running reasonably well, but I would like to exploit the exhaust a bit more with a modified filter.

I know most of you will say get it done on a Dyno, but I really can't shell out for it at the moment and just want to get the exhaust on the bike and running nicely. I can always get a Dyno run further down the line to fine tune it.

On a side note, does anyone rate Ivan's jet kits? Seem to get a pretty good write up over the pond. At the moment I'm thinking of just buying the individual jets i need from Allens Performance.

Found a place in the UK that stocks Ivan's products (SG Motorsport). May well consider this option.

A freind of mine has had his bike dynoed many a time as its a race bike. Hes told me before to expect to pay £80-100 to get my bike ran and tuned. What makes you think itll cost £500?

Had a quote from JHS in Bristol around the £500 mark (was for a comparable set up to their modified Dynojet kit, which they no longer stock). Then had a quote from a Dyno centre local to me which wanted around £350 to set the bike up (I would have to supply the air filter, so K&N / BMC anywhere from £40-£60).

Seems like a hell of a lot of money to me.

But all that needs doing is the bike ran, jets changed and then ran again? Unless im being stupid i reckon their trying to mug you off..have you tried anywhere else further afield just to get quotes? If im talking out of my ass someone, please let me know

I think the bulk of the cost is dyno time, hence the reason I'm hoping to avoid it (at least for the time being).

My dads bike isnt running right so ive just asked for a quote to get it ran, and tuned. They have quoted £140-160inc vat, and then if you need a new airfilter/spark plugs etc their cost on top. So i think you are getting ripped off! This is a place near reading btw.

That sounds a lot more reasonable. When you say tuned, do you mean replacing the jets, etc, if required as well?

The guy said "a dyno setup" which i take to mean all the work required to get it running.

Well, just ordered Ivan's jet kit. Nowhere near as cheap as buying the jets individually, but the kit gets a really good write up on SVRider. I have to buy a K&N filter and gut the thing, but thankfully I already have a Dremel :p
