STVA and discs knackered - repair?
After 95,000+ miles I think I have worn my SK5 out!
This years list of repairs: COMPLETED (wasted money I think) Clutch adjuster and cable Front tyre TO DO STVA has failed Front discs I hear the first item is megabucks, the 2nd item is c.£340. |
Re: ********. I think it's dead
I suppose if you want to buy brand new parts, at full retail money then things become rather expensive.
I'm assuming the STVA is the throttle body secondary valve motor. 2nd hand throttle bodies aren't that dear. 95,000 miles to a set of discs is pretty good going, and at £340 a pair I think the OE ones are pretty well priced. However, there are other companies selling new discs, and people on here sell wheels and discs with lots of life left in them on a regular basis for sensible money. Jambo |
Re: ********. I think it's dead
+1 Red one,
STVA - Secondary throttle valve assembly? If thats the case buy one of these: ebay link As for the discs: ebay link 2 There you go, £240 all in and the bikes hunky dory once again :) |
Re: ********. I think it's dead
In fact RUNAKO has a set of discs available at £80...

Re: ********. I think it's dead
Second hand bits, job jobbed.
Most of the bikes that get broken have 30k on them... this gives you 60k more miles :) |
Re: ********. I think it's dead
Its not dead, just resting for a bit. The throttle bank from eBay and the discs from Runako are good value. Plus an afternoon to fit them and back on the road you are to clock up some more miles.

Re: ********. I think it's dead
It may well be resting.
Early this morning it was apart again. The STVA seems fine, but I now have a C29 fault and have found I have only 2.4Vas a sensor input voltage. So I'm guessing I have a short somewhere. I pulled the ECM connector off but there is nothing odd there. Strange how all this started after I removed the airbox a few days again though. Being trying to trace the Red and Black/Brown wires but haven't found anything odd yet. |
Re: ********. I think it's dead
have you checked all the rubber hoses and bungs. after 95k i would expect some to be a bit past it. pay attention to the bungs under the TB's as they like to perish and let air in. also check the crank case ventilation valve in the air box to see if it's gummed up.
ooohhhh and the TPS can read fine but in fact is fubar |
Re: STVA and discs knackered - repair?
Would replacing the TPS be likely to resolve this issue? When the engine is behaving itself it doesn't matter how much I try to adjust the TPS I still get _C00, or it stalls!

Re: STVA and discs knackered - repair?
remember you have to adjust the tickover at the same time to keep the bike from stalling.
move the TPS and bike revs drop so increase tickover etc.etc |
