magnets and mobile phones
Do magnets bugger up mobiles?
My friends got one these cheepy magnetic phone holders in his car. Its just a round quid sized magnet with some double sided tape holding it to the dash, its inconspicuous unlike a cradle and I like it but will it eventually cause something to deteriorate? |
Re: magnets and mobile phones
can't see as there is anything for it to affect really. Magnets only do harm to magnetic storage (credit cards and hard disks) flash storage isn't affected by magnets and that is all phones use. the display shouldn't have a problem with it either.

The compass won't work, but that's about it...

Re: magnets and mobile phones
SD cards (along with any other card storage) are flash based. SSD's for desktop/laptop computers are the same.

Re: magnets and mobile phones
The magnets on the car dash, its just a metal keeper on the phone that it latches onto.
Its fine, I use them on both my phones, much better than a monster holder thing stuck to the air vents or windscreen |
Re: magnets and mobile phones
The phone and memory cards will be fine...but don't SIM cards work on the same principle as credit card chips?

Re: magnets and mobile phones
it's not the chips that get damaged from magnets, it was the old magnetic swipe strip. Moving to chips made them more resilient.
