Rejetted and full exhaust system fitted

So I finally got my bike rejetted using Ivan's carb kit and my Arrow exhaust system is fitted. It's made a big difference to the running of the bike. She pulls so much more smoothly and the induction snort from the gutted K&N air filter is adictive :D

Only issue I've noticed is in fifth gear on full throttle around 8k rpm the bike seems to hesitate then surge a bit (tacho needle goes a bit erratic, I think I even bounced off the rev limiter once). I've also had a new clutch cable fitted, so am wondering if it may be a bit of clutch slip. May have to get that investigated at some point, but will see how it goes for now. Any ideas what else it could be? Other than that the bike has been transformed for the better :)

So, after some research I have a feeling the hesitation / surging may mean she's a bit lean at the top end. Strange how it only happens in fifth gear at 8k though :smt017

Looks nice. How much did the system cost?

Was just over £300 second hand. Was a bit more than I wanted to pay, but Arrow are similarly priced to M4 new, so was a fair (ish) price. Would have loved a Leo Vince system, but they are like hens teeth for the curvy.

For the condition, that doesn't look like a bad deal. I assumed it was new! So congrats to you :D

Gave her the beans a couple of times on the way to work this morning, and in between huge grins from the induction roar I still noticed she seems to surge a bit sometimes at the top end of the rev range. Have a feeling I may need to go up a size on my mains jets. No rush though as just want to enjoy riding her for a while :D

I think you should start simple first and try adjusting the clutch cable. It could very well be a bit of clutch slip exacerbated by the power delivery.

You may be right Ronnie, as when Patterson's fitted the clutch cable they did say it was a bit tight so may need adjusting if it slips. Will see if it stretches a bit over the next couple of days and if not get them to check it when I'm there next weekend.

Thinking about it, if it were lean I would imagine it would surge in every gear at the top of the rev range, but then again I'm no expert :p
