Which Ohlins fits K8 naked?
can anyone tell me which Ohlins shock will fit a 2008 SV650, naked version?
I am looking at the S46DR1 or the 46PRCL I am installing Race Tech springs on front, .95KG, with Gold Valve Emulators and need to upgrade rear shock |

why Ohlins?
for the same price or less you could have a Penske or Nitron. |
Re: Info needed: 2008 naked sv650 rear shock
Ohlins was recommended by someone. Thanks for the info, appears that Penske does list one for 2003+. Nobody else lists the 2008 as an option. I can't believe the ohlins won't fit an 08 when it is listed for the 03-07 models. Just curious if anyone out there has it installed and how the fitment is.

Re: Info needed: 2008 naked sv650 rear shock
from 2003-2007 all the same 2007-present all the same. only big difference was the2003 as it had a higher rear subframe. then there was a redesign of the tool storage box.
so from 2004 onwards they are all the same fitment. be very very careful with ones that have a piggyback rez as most don't fit but they will not tell you this till you have bought it then they will say 'just cut the battery tray'. specify a remote rez when ordering any of the shocks. Ohlins are good but not the last word in shocks by a long shot and if money were no object then i would plumb for a Penske then a NItron then an Ohlins. if you buy a Nitron they are assembled in the UK by a UK owned company and parts made in Japan so are very very good quality. Nitron will also do one off specials and usually at no extra charge. unless your giving the bike serious stick all the time and do a lot of track days then the Nitron is more than up to the job yes even the Sport model. you just phone them up tell them how you ride and on what kind of roads, your weight and they do the rest. i have tried fiddling with the settings on mine but they always end up back where they came as standard from the factory. i have had my Nitron Sport for 2+ years and it still looks brand new. |

Bibio, your info is awesome. Proper fitment is important to me so the piggyback rez is a gamble I don't want to take. This bike is perfect and I don't want to cut the battery tray. I am getting the S46DR1-SU323 Ohlins. My bro works at a custom shop and they are dealers so I get it for $510.
Anyway thanks for taking the time to answer |
