In their day they were good if slightly boring middleweight tourers. Detuned oil-cooled GSX-R lump was fairly solid but as with all Suzuki's of that era the suspension, electrics and finish was not fabulous. After 18 years you are of course taking a gamble unless you know it's been lovingly cared for.

They were rated far better than the 600 version but the fairing was not everyone's cup of Darjeeling.

Paging Squirrell_Hunter

I think it's not a bad little bike, I have experience of one that had been used for a 60 mile round trip commute on a daily basis. Had nearly 60k on it when we got it and still going strong.

It's a heavy lump and old technology (has a bloody car alternator) but look at it this way, no coolant change required :) and checking adjusting valve clearances is a doddle

Been used to commute and to go scratching on, you need to ring it's neck on a progressive ride but then you would on any 600 too but it'll see you right, remember though, like the SV, it's a budget bike so has budget suspension, brakes........ and it's not the prettiest of bikes but I feel my life is a little fuller after having used one of these in anger

Don't pay for it by the lb... They weigh a fair bit...

I have one, and its for sale.

The bike does have 60k on the clock but really doesn't look it even for a '99 plate. It is a really good bike, but anyone selling one would say that.

In all honesty I was surprised at how powerful it is. Probably a bit more than the SV in a straight line. But handling is where it is let down. Did take it round Castle Combe for a laugh and I wasn't over taken as much as you might think. Managed to lap 2 riders in a 15 minute session so its not completely unsuited to progressive riding. And I think the brakes are the same as the SV so they do the job enough.

On the road its a comfortable ride very smooth and useable. If I didn't need the room I would have no reason to sell it. Compared to the SV to move around it is bigger and it is heavier but its not to noticeable and you will soon get used to it. I think my model is the one after the '95 that you are looking at so there might be some differences.

Not really sure what else to add, but feel free to ask or even buy my bike...

There seems to be a common consensus on the weight, I'm not sure about the actual weight but I will tell you that I found it worse to move around than my BlackBird.

Again, I am thankful I got to experience it, I took it on a big ride out, it coped admirably the only thing I thought was weird was it's little 150 section rear tyre

Re: GSX750F opinions?

I had three, the last one for 16 years before I got fed up with the weight (520kg dry)! [or I got older :) ]
Having said that it was superbly comfortable and very smooth. Pulls like a train, even pulls at 1000rpm in top, and goes into warp speed at 70mph. The SV is an uncomfortable, rough light weight in comparison. So great for long distances, doesn't notice a pillion much ok for traffic and town filtering but you will need help to lift it if dropped. One last thing, weight and 1990 brakes means they are not the strongest, book in advance.
