Curvy chain lengths - different gearing?
Hi all, i need alittle help with chain & sproket sizes
I have a 1999 sv650x faired & i belive the standard sprocket size is 15t front & 45t rear chain 110 link anyone have an idea of chain length for a 14t/48t or 15t/48t conversion any help would be appreciated thanking you in advance |
Re: 1999 Chain & Sprockets
The standard gearing for an SV650SX is 15/44 (the Naked SV650X was 15/45). The newer SVs seem to be 15/45 anyway.
I'd give a call to someone like B&C express, they'll be able to help you work out if you need additional links in the chain, or just order one with a little extra and remove the additional links when fixing. I know, clear as mud, sorry! Jambo |

Re: Curvy chain lengths - different gearing?
for 15/47 go for a 112! 15/48 same, as with the 47 i still have space!
(just fitted!) |

Re: Curvy chain lengths - different gearing?
sorry im thinking of doing a 15/47 conversion
was contemplating a 14/47 but feel it might be a bit too punchy lol |
Curvy chain lengths - different gearing?
14/47 would make it very light at the front under any kind of acceleration I imagine.

Re: Curvy chain lengths - different gearing?
thanks for everyones input
ive decided to go with the 15/47 i only want the front end up when i want it up & it will come up easier just with the 47t rear lol |

Good choice, with the 14/47 you would of had to of been pretty lenient on the throttle on set-off. Kieran |
