Lower fairings - are they worth it?

So basically I wouldn't mind have a fully faired bike, but lower fairings as so expensive! Is there anywhere you can get then cheapish and what needs to be done to fit them.

Cheers (K3 pointy)

Worth it in what terms?

They're a completely cosmetic addition, there's no extra weather protection worth speaking of, and they won't make your bike more aerodynamic - so it won't be faster or more economical.

So the entire question comes down to; do you want to spend money on a 'look'?

Lower fairings... Are they worth it?

I wouldn't mind spending money on the look as do like the 'full faired' bikes. I'm just seeing if anyone knows how much it could cost and where to get things from :)

Let me say this before someone else does.

Suzuki dealers sell Suzuki parts.

Ebay quite often has cheap stuff and if you do a search, there's a place in Poland or similar that sells copies cheaper (but they need spraying).

I bought mine for 140£ ish

Bike look nice but the holes didn't exactly match; so to put them on just needed a drill and a allen key

To my mind:
They never look quite like they were supposed to be there when the bike was designed, they make checking the oil a pain in the backside as they pretty much all make seeing the sight glass tricky, and they cost the same as a nice set of tyres or a track day. Some considerably more so.

They will almost certainly get damaged in a 0mph drop.

That said I've occasionally seen an SV wearing them that I thought looked good.

I really like the look of the SV with fairing lowers but a lot of people don't. One thing to consider is that around town they seem to make bike run quite a bit hotter. Mine often hits 100 degrees around London where as other people say their sits around 80 - 90. Don't think this will really cause any problems but worth knowing.

The lowers shouldn't block the oil sight glass.

I much prefer the fully faired look, particularly because the bottom of the half fairing is not horizontal. Doesn't look "right" to me.
