Loose drive chain; 'clunk' noise?

Hi all,
If my chain was to loose is it possible that it could make a clonky sort of a noise on pull away???

I ask as I need to adjust mine but just haven't had a chance yet its not dangerously loose but is loose and noticed yesterday a clonky sound as I pull away from a standstill the bike is riding fine with no vibrations or anything nasty just this noise is almost sounds like the chain could be slapping the cover is this possible...

Yes.
Does it make the clonky noise when you chop the throttle and decelerate too?
What is dangerously loose?
It doesn't take long to adjust the chain.

Adjust it and do it before you ride anywhere. Its a nick as well as dangerous to ride with a flapping chain.
