Gmvii - 2014
Ok folks I'm already working on next years GM.
Now, to give me a helping hand what do you want your GM experiance to be? What kind of roads would you like? (fast and flowing, slow and single track or a mix of everything) What kind of mileages would you like to do during the day? (Min and Max) What kind of places would you like to stop? (great views for photos or places with facilities) How long do you like to ride between each stop? (Time more important than mileage here) I have two places that are looking good as a base for the weekends fun* Anything you would like to say just shout (I can always take the huff and tell you too bolt, and probably will ;-) ) *one looks perfect - I'm going up to see them this weekend - they have rooms, cabins, camping, a bar and restaurant in one place and are interested in having us, and most of all they are right on one of the best roads in Scotland. |
Re: Gmvii - 2014
350 miles on gravel and pot hole ridden single track roads with lots of fag/pee breaks.
failing that you decide :-) |
Re: Gmvii - 2014
Its the GM Lance! GM not DAKAR!!! :D
Thanks for your help (and you know I'm gonna PM you so many times about this that you'll hate me more than you already do) |
Re: Gmvii - 2014
Mixture of roads.
200miles Min > 350miles Max Somewhere decent to stop for lunch. This years lunch stop was spot on. 45min > 1hr between stops Oh and dry weather.:sunny: :grouphug: |

Re: Gmvii - 2014
Lodges or rooms. Pub, off-licence and chippy in walking distance.
Apart from that, not bothered. I'm there for the beer. Is there normally a ride-out or something? :) |
Re: Gmvii - 2014
Fast and flowing roads combined with beautiful scenery and minimum number of single track road.
Stopping points with facilities. Mileage prob no more than 150 to 200 for me bearing in mind that folk may have travelled a long way up there the day before and also may have a long journey home the following day. Maybe it`s worth considering an early finish point on the rideout for those who are feeling a bit jaded but the option of a few more miles for those who haven`t had enough? Facilities as we had at Fort Augustus were brilliant with a combination of shops/pubs with food/chip shop but I imagine it`d be difficult to find that great combination elsewhere?? Not too bothered about number of miles between stopping distances. Not sure if it was the venue or the timing but GMVI was positively midge free for me, a real bonus :smt026 |

Re: Gmvii - 2014
:)2014 is a long way off--------what about 2013 and a half?
Hopefully we will still have a couple of months summer left this year. |
Re: Gmvii - 2014
I doubt I'll be able to do that for the group... I'm away in Wales with some lovely loons next month and in Majorca in Sept...
I did hear conversations about there being an Applecross run later in the year but its not my spot... fingers crossed that happens because last years Applecross adventure was brilliant.. :-) |
