Mirror bolt size? Pointy.

Hi all ,

Well one of my bolts has disappeared off the left mirror on my sv650s 13 I checked the size on the other bolt and it fit my M5 Allen key . Ordered 5 off a fittings company on EBay M5 cap head black bolts 12mm long and they are too small for my M5 Allen key .

Have they sent me M4 or do I need to order M6 bolts to fit an M5 marked Allen key ???????

Re: Bolt sizes confusion !

don't go by the key size. you need to know the thread size and length. if i'm not mistaken they are M6

To clarify; socket and tool are not M5, M6 M8 etc, that means the thread size, sockets and tools are 5mm, 6mm, 8mm etc.

Typically with standard socket head bolts the recess is one size down from the thread size, so M6 threaded bolt has 5mm recess and thus 5mm tool is used.
