Anyone know which ZX10 this shock came off?

Can anyone help me identify which zx10 model this shock came off?
Just so I can google the factory settings and adjust it.
The chap I bought the bike off has set it up very firm.
Or if anyone could give me some help as to what I could try as a starting point, I'm 13 1/2 stone and am most definitely a novice rider on the track!!
Just for extra info, the front end is off an R6 (5EB), I've managed to find the factory settings for that and worked out how to set that up.

I've only ever had a standard curvy before, so on the rear shock, what do I turn and in which direction?!?!

Cheers for any help,
Dave

Dunno but maybe search eBay for zx10r shocks and narrow it down to a year by the pics?

From memory the ZX10 shock is very firm

You may want to get the spring changed to something better suited to your weight.

Don't forget its been matched to the ZX10 which is a much heavier bike than the SV, so the spring rate will be higher.

Others will come up with a more definitive answer

In the link below is a ZX10 04/05 shock that I recently put into a curvy. for me at 14 stone (in me slippers) it's a pretty good match and way better than the standard shock. Preload has 22mm of threads showing which was what the shock came with and a post on the US SV Rider forum also suggested, but this is probably for a road bike set up and I have little experience of faffing around with suspension settings. What I would do is set the sag as a starter but you will need a mate and a tape measure. there are some You tube videos on how to do it which explain all.

This is a ZX10 06/07 shock btw, but your reservoir is different.

knowing the factory setting means nothing, nada, nowt as you are using a shock and front end off a different bike.

the first thing you should be looking at is ride hight of the bike. once this is done it will let you know if the springs are right. if they are then you can proceed to tuning the dampening.

until you get the ride hight right you are pizzing in the wind.

if you don't understand why the ride hight is so important then i would suggest you go and do some reading on suspension set up before you proceed.

i'll give a little example of a misconception. when dampening is set to what people call 'harder' it's not it's 'slower' and if you don't understand that either then you really really need to do some reading.

there are no magic numbers or tables for the clickers no matter what you read as each individual is just that so requires different settings.

the above all sounds a bit negative i know but until you know what things do in the components you will just get confused. it does not matter what shock or front end you are using it's understanding what they are doing.

Thanks for the replies, better get reading then.
It's more in depth than I thought, got my first track day on Monday so just wanted to check my bike's set up as standard as possible, but as it's got an R6 front end and a ZX rear shock then I understand that there's nothing standard about it at the moment.
I guess the only way to find my personal settings is to take the bike out.

The shock looks like an 07 zx10, 06 were a lighter gold.
Not a bad shock IMHO got one in the curvy with the original spring on. Bit soft but I prefer it that eay

What r6 front is it?
