Aftermarket bar cable re-routing?

In the process of fitting some Renthal streetfighter bars to my naked k3 and just wondering if its frowned upon to re-route the cable to the other side of the front forks? ... so instead of running out of the frame, through the middle of the forks and up to the bars could I run them out of the frame and straight up to the bars? (providing I don't pinch them at full lock)

As long as you don't pinch cables, or try to stretch them, and as long as they work properly, that is, smoothly and easily, you can put them anywhere you want or need to.

Magic cheers, just if I run them the way I was planning to I wouldn't have to extend any cables etc and they would have plenty of slack for the position i'm after ... just didn't want to run it outside the forks then post up pics to be greeted with a resounding NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! :D
