buying SORN.
Looking to buy a run around, cos my SV keeps getting its indicators/levers/can mashed up by twit scooter riders at work. Found what seems like a good deal, but it is currently SORN (As of July 31st).
What's the best way to go about buying in and getting it to my place. I can ride other bikes on my insurance, and it has a valid MOT. I'm a little loathe to insure it before its in my ownership, but can't take it off SORN without insurance. and don't really want to pay for it, insure it then leave it at the other guys for two weeks while i get it off SORN. |
Re: buying SORN.
-Insure it, print certificate
-Buy it -Take new keeper supplement of V5C to post office and purchase tax disc... to be completely legal, walk there -Ride In case it turns out to be a lemon, arrange insurance cover to start on the day you will go buy it.... then if it is a lemon you can cancel it on day 1 of the 14 days cooling off and it should cost you fook all. |
Re: buying SORN.
Ta Chris, wasn't sure if I could tax it on new keeper supplement.
Been to have a look already. Its cosmetically horrendous, but mechanically as far as i can see, pretty good. Exactly what I am after. Already comes with a top box too. |

Not once you have bought it you can't. Unless you have a very unique policy the third party extension will only cover a bike not owned by you. |
