What's in store for the future of Bike Emissions?
 

New V5C for motorbikes has sound levels and emissions at a specified number of engine revs.
I don't recall seeing this on my last V5C so will it be enforceable and a part of the MOT?
My last bike was 12 years old

Can't wait to see what the MOT tester makes of my TDR 250 then..... He won't be able to read the V5 through the smoke.....

It is only applicable to bikes sold since 1st January 2013.
So my open megaphone pipe goes through and makes the testers ears bleed

MOT compuerisation means we dont need to read your V5.
All the relevant stuff is there .

Oh great font of knowledge------does that mean new bikes will have to put the original equipment back on for the MOT in the future,and will you be nicked if you get a VOSA stop and it does not conform? Unlikely I know but just being curious.
I haven't seen any new tester manuals as yet

Europe want a standard test for all vechles.The poor member states don't.

Motorcycle MOT Testing will become mandatory throughout Europe by about 2017, if the EU Commission have their way, there will also be more 'testable items' added to Britain's list of the items checked on bikes for an MOT – although the whole issue is still currently in the 'melting pot' of inter-state discussions in the EU.

So reading that PDF I see:
"Every member state of the European Union has an equivalent of the MOT test, and the new standards apply to everyone. The legislation applies to trucks, buses, cars and light goods vehicles, but not to motorcycles."

Does that mean my new 2013 bike will pass an mot in 3 years if I put aftermarkets without cats in etc? I'm confused...

Historicly the uk government have not applied hash emmision testing on MOT,s.
But it can all change if they want too.
Same as laws taxes etc.
Its up to us to vote in the right people
