Photography trip, anyone interested?

This idea will likely be applicable to Border Patrol area members but of course anyone would be welcome.

I'd been pondering the idea of a photo trip for a while, even thought of a photo rideout at some point but haven't managed to crystalise that idea yet.

With my recent trips out at night taking various types of shots I wondered if some of the people on here might want to meet up for a photo shoot sometime?

I'm thinking something like light painting as this is particularly beneficial with a group of people, trust me, running around a pitch black hilltop castle by yourself in the dark to flash a torch in the right place isn't so easy or fun as it may sound :D

I'm not 100% on location yet, I've got a couple of suggestions but am open to others. (mine are Prees Heath, there are some abandoned buildings there that make for interesting shots or possibly the Dinas Bran Castle behind Llangollen, Mainly dependant on whatever is most convenient for people I guess) Ooh, just thought of another, there is a triple cavern cave nearby that would make for a great light painting spot.

If we did go for light painting the idea would be to bring along something/anything that glows, shines or flashes and basically wave it in front of the camera whilst shooting a long exposure. (this is where the group or at least having a second person comes in handy as you effectively serve as a voice activated shutter for eachother :))

Obviously we could do a location meet up and just shoot in the day but I thought this was something that not everyone will have tried and it can produce some striking images pretty easily.

So, does anyone fancy such an idea?

Cool, I wondered if this was gonna be a tumbleweed thread but thought I'd ask the question. Will give it a few days and see if any others fancy then I'll start to see if we can agree on a location and date :-)

LOL I'd imagine that'd be a VERY popular subject! Proper laugh out loud moment that, very good :-)

Yup, could be up for that one Brett. Prees sounds like a good place, but, as Pete says, I'm easy :)

That would be impossible to answer without a sample photo. ;)

So far the locations that I can think of are here:

Does anyone have a preference of weekend or weeknight? it'd be around 2 hours of your time in the dark so in theory from around 7pm we could be shooting so it needn't be a late night.

Having said that, one location is a cave so that could be shot during the day.

I'll post up shots of each location later today so you guys can at least have an idea if you'd have a preference of location.

Prees was the location for this one:

Queens Parlour Cave looks like this:

and Dinas Bran by Llangollen looks like this:

but any interesting remote (so we don't scare people) and nonflammable (the steel wool can get hot) site would be good. Pipes, tunnels, underpasses
