Options to make the seat more comfortable? Pointy.

I've recently got a k6 SV650 and absolutely love the things to bit. The only issue I have with it is that the seat is not very comfortable, I find myself in pain within around 50 miles of riding.
Just wondering what are the options in terms of making the seat more comfortable - I know there are corbin/sargent seats but I don't really feel like spending £200+ on a seat.

any cheap DIY options or such?

Cheers.

Gel pad, resculpting knife and staple gun, if you realy want to go DIY but no results are guaranteed.

I took my seat to my local upholsterer and came away £30 lighter in the purse and with a seat that is comfortable for 200mile trips.

On my pilot seat I have three grades of foam which was then sculpted to fit and then to finish I have custom covers on both pilot and pillion seats. It looks fab to me, but then it is to my taste.

ahh as you said the results aren't guaranteed if I have a go at it myself, but £30 for an upholsterer sounds like a bargain. Where are you located Jaynesflakes? Recommend anyone?

Cheers.

Maybe something else to think about...

I read an article years ago about bicycle saddles. The author said most new saddles are sold in the spring, after the cyclist gets their bike out of winter hibernation. Cyclist finds saddle uncomfy, buys new saddle and in a couple of weeks is quite happy. During this time the cyclist's muscles get toned after the winter lay off. So I reckon the same could apply to motorbikes.
But,
like a lot of cyclists, I have a few bikes, mainly mountain bikes. I have fitted the same make and model of saddle to a few of these bikes. I do low level stuff during the winter and last spring I brought out the bike I take up mountains. I found the saddle had gone hard. The foam had lost its suppleness. As I had identical saddles to compare it with, I knew I wasn't imagining this.
So, now I know foam can lose it's suppleness.
Also,
I found that after I got more experience on my nekkid pointy, I moved around on it a lot more, so don't sit in the same position for ages.
So, shifting weight when approaching bends also helps.

I guess its complex

I am located in Weston super Mare, in North Somerset. If you are local to here I would highly recommend using this chap here.

He did a fine job of my bike and I am really happy with it. On the other hand, my wifey Carol hates my saddle and says that even with the mods it still feels like paving slab! I love it though. [-(

Ahhh I'm not local then haha, I'm in Leicester. The most likely route I think i'll go down is looking for a small upholsterer and seeing what they can do.

Thanks for the help guys. :)

Ask around at your local bike shop or garage. There's bound to be someone who does car upholstery.
