Safest method for removal of sticky pads?
Hey all,
So i got myself a cam to put on my helmet, stupidly i tried to attach it in the early hours of the morning half asleep. The result is that it points too far down so i get my screen and clocks as opposed to the road ahead. What is the best way of removing the cam mount and sticky pad without F'in up my lid and at all poss is there a way to do it so i can reuse the same sticky pad as i dont have any spares! Thanks in advance! |

No and no. Can you not adjust the cam on the mount?

Re: Safest method for removal of sticky pads
I did it with a credit card, and a screwdriver. Screwdriver to prise the sticky pad up, and the CC to protect the lid. Alternatively, you could use some dental floss to 'saw' through it. There is no way you are going to get it off and be able to reuse it. Especially if it is a 3m sticky pad. If you have a matt helmet, good luck....

Re: Safest method for removal of sticky pads
What I did was get it right first time. Try that in future. The process is as followed:
1. Get naked and put on your helmet. 2. Stand in front of a full length mirror in a bike straddle position, leaning forwards as you would and swinging your hips side to side (know what I'm saying?) 3. Hold the cam on the helmet recording until it looks right. Typically with the helmet on a flat surface the cam will be pointing in the air by about 35 degrees. 4. Check the footage for accuracy and upload to the internet. If you want you can also tape it to your helmet and test run it on the bike for real. Using a paddock stand in your garage would avoid charges of indecent exposure. |
Re: Safest method for removal of sticky pads
use a heat gun or hair dryer to heat the sticky patch up. Then use same method as Tomor.

Thanks fallout, another informative and entertaining post. And I thought that person looked familiar but was the peanut butter and dog really necessary for setting up a cam!?
Looks like I won't be using it for a while then or I'll have to use a different mount. Grant, it's the one I got with my copy of call of duty :) |
