Continuous SORN
 

I have discovered that a SORN declaration is now continuous, you do not need to renew each year. Which is nice. The SORN remains in effect until you tax, or scrap, or sell the vehicle.

I would normally put a link to the information on the DVLA website, but unfortunately I can find no trace of an official announcement. I only discovered this while trying to renew a SORN'ed bike via the internet, and the phone service both of which refused me with no explanation. I eventually got through to the enquiry line where I was told they changed the rules while the V11 reminder was in the post and to ignore it as the bike will remain SORN forever more until I do something to change that.

No other SORN reminders or confirmation will be sent if the vehicle is declared as SORN. About time.

Yes came into force Dec? Sorn is continuous, and tax discs are abolished come October :) Will all be done by computer and anpr.

can also confirm as I got a reminder tuesday and tried to do it today.

Thank goodness for that, a small chip in the stupid bureaucratic wall of carp we have to put up with.

I've got 9 vehicles, 8 of which wander in and out of the land of SORN at some time or another, PITA. It always was a total waste of time, if it is taxed then fine, if it isn't and is on the road you get done, having a SORN declaration adds nothing whatsoever to the equation. :smt102

Could it be at last that there are actually some people-in-places who have some common sense? All we need now is for SORN to be abandoned completely and job's a good'un.
