2000 sv650s k&n?

Im guna have a service on my bike in march, not been used since last year in September. Antway, instead of the standard air filter, I was thinkin of k&n, or pipercross.
what are your thoughts on this? / experiences?

I have a Beowulf can, will there be a sound difference?
Will my engine run the same or use more fuel etc?

Just trying to see the benefits of spending £40 on a filter
cheers guys

I considered the same when I got my curvy late last year. I read somewhere that the K&N makes the bike run lean so got myself a new genuine suzuki filter from ebay and swapped out the existing pattern filter fitted by the previous keeper. Bike runs fine now and better at low speeds through town than before.

I looked at a genuine one from suzuki, have decided that for £25, I am guna get the pattern filter. It costs £12.95 off ebay right now and works the same. K&N I think is always nice to have but the money, I dont think so.
It would need to be really special for me to justify!

Since you clean and re-install the K&N, and since they last for a very long time, if you keep your bike long enough, the K&N ends up being cheaper.

I still have the same K&N on my 2000 curvy that was fitted when I bought it nearly 4 years ago and I've had no problems with lean running. It gets taken out, cleaned and re-oiled with the K&N kit, and refitted once or twice a year. The refurb kit has lasted over 3 years so a much better and cheaper option than having to keep chucking filters away.
