The Fat Yella Bike
Taken long enough to almost finish but hopefully, will start doing some riding again.
Bike could only be described as a pile of poo....but I knew that so not complaining about the sale. Stripped down to just the main frame and built back up. I'm pretty familiar with what a spanner is used for but I have to give a 'shout out' :D to my private master technician...that'd be Jambo then :p for his help along the way when a thing or two needed a second opinion. Just put together from bits acquired over time or spares lying around....eg the engine . Nothing special really and just has a couple of sensible 'Mods' but I'm quite pleased to have finished(almost) it now. http://i842.photobucket.com/albums/z...BIGYELLAQ1.jpg http://i842.photobucket.com/albums/z...BIGYELLAQ2.jpg http://i842.photobucket.com/albums/z...BIGYELLAQ4.jpg |

Re: The Fat Yella Bike
Looking good.
Out of interest, what handlebars have you got on that? |
Re: The Fat Yella Bike
That looks tidy that does, well done on getting it finished mate, many of us loose momentum along the way with a project bike!

Re: The Fat Yella Bike
Thanks folks. A few things could be tidied up but I just want to ride....
TamSV, when I came across the bars, I thought they were these...http://www.suburban-machinery.com/sv650.htm. But they are a bit different. A better design actually imo, as you can position them higher or lower by just switching the bars left to right. I bought them about 6+ years ago and probably got them off Ebay. |
Re: The Fat Yella Bike
Admire how you resisted the temptation to go all streetfighter/grim reaper paintjob and kept it totally standard.
Was planning something similar with mine until it turned out to be a Cat B write-off - the naked SV is pretty timeless in looks. |

Ben! You've built a motorbike! Slightly concerned you've been taking advice from Jambo though - I think maybe you should get a grown-up to give it a check before you ride it.
Those are called 'Ace Bars' - before bikes with clipons were common, it was the typical way of getting lower, race style handlebars as all bikes had bar clamps like a naked does. Some are solid one piece, some have adjustable joints and are called 'Jota Bars'. |

What are you doing in here? You're supposed to be having a romantic child free weekend with 'er indoors.
