Datatool removed.
So after 3 hours, 8 fuses blown and lots of tape used. My bike is finally free from the curse that alarm held! Whoever installed the alarm put three wires in that didn't need to be linked to anything but had power going to them... Not sure why they did that but it kept me guessing for a while!

Datatool removed.
Looking at the wiring diagrams probably would have helped! Haha I traced each individual wire back and repaired as necessary, it was only after I had blown 4 fuses that I thought I should get the digital multi meter out :p

Re: Datatool removed.
Think I'll have to do the same with my k3 as I can't seem to find a second hand clean loom. I'm sick of the thing killing batteries

Re: Datatool removed.
Did you strip the lot off the bike first in order to remove? Any good tips you learned in process of removal?

Re: Datatool removed.
I would never buy another bike with an alarm. A pita to live with and pita to remove.

Datatool removed.
First thing I did was remove the rear fairings
*strip most of the tape of the main loom *remove the alarm casing, exposing the wires *followed each wire from the alarm to the loom (you can clearly see which cables have been spliced and which cables need resoldering together *test the bike, if everything runs but you still have cables that aren't connected you probably don't need them (but in my case I didn't test them... Therefore 8 fuses blown haha) *If everything works, time to reassemble |
Re: Datatool removed.
There is a way to disable them easily without removing the unit but obviously for security reasons won't give that information on a public forum.
