Damper rod bolt removal?

Tried everything to get these little buggers out, broom handle, impact wrench with internals back in, just keeps spinning the rod!

Anyone got any ideas? Is there a tool to hold the rod still while I get the rattle gun on it?

Yes, there's a tool - it's just like a broom pole only metal, but it isn't any more effective.

Try the pole again, sometimes there's enough grip to hold the rod and tighten the bolt up again, after a few times tightening and loosening the bolt the grip of the threadlock can be broken, then turn the fork and pole upside down and hammer it hard onto the ground, hold the pole with grips. Failing that reassemble the fork and take the whole thing to someone with a windy spanner - never fails.

Air tools ;)

You get a lot of sharp hits that tend to break the threadlock rather than a building pressure that lets it spin.

Would that be any more effective than the electric impact wrench?

They were properly tight, impact wrench managed to wind them out about a thread but now they're just spinning.

I'm going to fashion something to try and stop it spinning with a length of stud and some wedge nuts see if I can't get it loose.

I'm sure there'll be much discussion to be had, but I find the windy spanner much more effective than the 'leccy spanner.

Not sure if they are the same size on the SV. But I had the same problem on my brothers 600 Bandit.

I bought a long bolt with two 19mm nuts threaded on to the end. Connected a socket wrench to bolt end and with a big exstention piece was able to stop the rod spinning in the tube. Then using a 8mm allan socket I successfully managed to remove the damper bolt.

But yeah windy gun is probably a better option :-)

I usually loosen the damper rod bolt first, before removing the springs. I've had this work when simply applying a hammer to the Allen key, and also with electric, pneumatic and manual impact drivers.
