Oil light on at tickover (Pointy track bike).
 
had the bike ( 03 pointy ) on track last night came in after 30 mins oil light on at tickover blip the throtle it goes out stays out with the revs up ,,is this a normal sv trait ?? or is this the start of somthing more sinister ie oil pump failure ?? gordon

Shouldn't be doing this as standard.

First off check the oil level with the bike upright and see where it's at.

After that the best thing to do would be use an oil pressure gauge in place of the oil pressure switch and see what reading you get at idle and also at a given rpm

As Jambo says, a check of the oil pressure would be the obvious first step, if you haven't got access to suitable equipment, fit a known good pressure switch first, they have been known to fail.
