Free Backup Software
Looking for some free (or at least cheap) software to run backups with.
I've got a media centre PC with a 2gb HDD full of stuff I don't want to lose. Bought a USB as a backup went to use Windows backup but it doesn't seem to be there on Windows 8. Ideally I want to be able to run incremental backups, leaving the file structure in place so once set up all I need to do is a couple of clicks and the USB is updated with the latest stuff. i.e. exactly what Windows backup on XP did. |
Re: Free Backup Software
Windows Synctoy is perfect for me. Set up which folders you want copied to where and it will run through them all. You do have to manual start the sync though. I don't think there is a way to automate it

Re: Free Backup Software
I have Iomega Quick Protect on my home machine. As long as it detects the external hard drive on and plugged in it does a backup of selected folders/new files daily (or whatever schedule you set).

Re: Free Backup Software
You could give bvckup a look. Can be set to run in the background, and syncs delta files so only the changes and not the whole file every time

Free Backup Software
I got some free keys for acronis when I bought some disks for a nas. I don't know how good it is but I can send you one of those if you want. Don't think it's the full version mind.

Re: Free Backup Software
I'll vouch for acronis. Always did the business for me.
