SV1000 brake lines fit SV650?
 

Hi guys.

Does anyone know if brake likes made for the Pointy SV1000 will fit a Curvy SV650?

The unions at each end will fit, as these are standard brake fittings.

Length will be similar, but not identical.

Why are you buying these, you can get ones for your Curvy no problem?

Ok, thanks.

It's because I've found some HEL lines that are cheaper than any others (bidding on eBay, still new and sealed) but they're for the Pointy 1000 not the curvy 650. If theythey'll be longer that's fine cos I'm thinking of putting slightly higher bars on mine

Just realised they're for the S model and mine's a naked so they probably won't be long enough... Damn!

No, they won't be long enough.

Just get some made up, just a bit longer than standard if your're going to fit higher bars. They are the most important bit of kit on your bike

or here is a better idea:

TBH braided lines dont make that much of a difference. yes you wil hear people say that 'i changed my lines to braided and the difference was night and day' what these people dont tell you is that they had never changed the brake fluid on the bike untill they fitted the new miracle lines. braided lines also wont cure worn or seized components in the braking system and only servicing these components will give optimum performance.

i would rather have a well maintained and serviced braking system with standard lines than poor condition system with braided lines any day of the week. yes a well serviced braking system with braided lines is the way to go but TBH the braided lines dont make that much of a difference on the grand scale of things.

so unless your standard lines are starting to perish or the swaging on the unions is weeping there is not much to be gained by the expense of the braided lines. however buying tools and proper regular maintenance of the braking system will give much more performance per £ worth and once someone learns how to maintain and service their brakes properly they have that skill for life. throwing money at braided lines hoping to gain better performance on worn/seized brakes is like flushing money down the toilet.
