Complete electrical failure.
Hi all,
Yesterday when leaving work, I put my key in the bike, turned it to the on position and literally nothing happened. Called the RAC out, he spent about 25 mins looking at it, testing the electrics etc. He concluded that it was the relay as I had an eBay one when I changed the indicators to LED. As a temporary fix he led a direct wire from the battery positive to the wire between the relay and the ignition fuse. This got me home, but now I don't think its the relay as I put the original one back in and still no power. Just wondering if anyone knows what this could be before I take it to the garage. The bike is a K9 SV650S. I recently reinstalled the numberplate light and added a wire to attached KEIS heated insoles. Thanks for your help and sorry for the long post! |
Re: bike not starting
Have you checked the main 30 amp fuse?

Re: bike not starting
I thought I did, and so did the RAC guy, but I will switch it with the spare tomorrow just in case. Just did some more digging online and saw something about a green connector under the tank that has some issues. Will check tomorrow and hopefully that is it!

Re: bike not starting
That is also one to check after the fuse. While you are under the tank check all electrical connectors to be on the safe side.

Perfect, thanks for the help!

Re: Complete electrical failure.
Right, I got to the green connector and that was definitely the problem. Removed the connector and connected each wire individually with spade connectors. All seemed fine, but now when I start the bike I get an FI warning and FI flashing where the temperature would be. Bike starts and runs fine. Any ideas?

Re: Complete electrical failure.
Put the bike in Dealer mode ( wire link in one of the connectors under the seat. The TPS setup thread shows how) And see what, if any, error codes come up.
