Fuel Light
Hi - on a 1999 sv650 when the fuel light comes on how much approx distance does this give me to find a petrol station
Thanks |
Re: Fuel Light
I find around 10-20 miles from flashing to solid light, but depends on your right hand ;)

Re: Fuel Light
Furthest I've dared is 30 steady miles, as Geo says the warning changes from flashing to solid when you're very low.

Re: Fuel Light
Tried and tested!
I get an average of 40-45mpg. fuel light usually starts flashing at 110-130 miles depending on how fuel efficient I feel on that tank. I find that when riding efficiently keeping revs low, accelerating and shifting smoothly, I get about 30 miles from flashing to steady light. Steady light will give me 20 miles max. When I have my go fast and burn fuel days, flashing light will usually come on at 90-100 miles, and solid light at 110-120. For my average ride, I get 140 miles on the tank quite comfortably. Though I did run out just outside a fuel station a few weeks ago at 135 miles! :-O All-in-all. Depends how you ride, your weight, and on the traffic! Here is a link to my fuelly http://www.fuelly.com/motorcycle/suz.../sutty5/347557 Logged around 10 fuel-ups on that. |
Re: Fuel Light
so giving a curvy and a TS pointy the beans results in the pointy going double the distance. just another reason pointys are best :-)

My fuel light consistently starts flashing around the 140 mile mark. That's on a K6, going 'enthusiastically', on mainly twisties. Should I be getting more? I do have the baffle out, not sure if that effects fuel efficiency. It sure does sound good though :p |
Re: Fuel Light
ragging the titzz of a K7 Twin Spark my light starts flashing at around 180 and i can go to 220 with ease.

Re: Fuel Light
Get an F650GS, go out with the owners of a Triumph Tiger XC and KTM 990 Adventure S. You can feel all smug and wealthy when they have to keep filling up a good 60 miles before you do on the same size tank. The only bike I've had that did more mpg was my Classic Vespa.
