bike cutting out, back firing and not restarting.

Hi

I am new here. I recently got a 02 650 curvy and the last few days it has been cutting out as if somebody is pressing the kill switch while I am riding. It has done this the last few days but I could always restart it and the problem had seemed to go away. Last night on the A14 it did it again but this time cut out and wouldn't restart had to get recovered home. When the bike cut out there was a backfire just before it died. I have checked all the connections to side stand switch, kill switch etc and they seem to be fine. Anybody have any ideas on what could be the problem ? The bike is going back to the shop I bought it from on Friday but as I am working the next 2 days I was wondering if there was anything I could do or anything I could look at to sort it out at all. Many thanks in advance for any advice offered.

So bike is still cutting out. Some times it won't restart on the button and I have to wait a little while before it does restart, this could be minutes or seconds. Does it wet or dry, was turning left the other day and it cut out and came back on. I am thinking it is a loose wire / connecter somewhere. Side stand is disabled as first thoughts it was that. Would problems with the clutch switch cause the problems I am experiencing? Have got to go to Manchester tomorrow due to work commitments and will have to use the only means of transport which is the bike. So tonight I am planning on stripping the fairings off and checking all the loom and connections. Is there any that can be a problem on the bike. The shop I got the bike from are no use as each time it goes in it will run sweet and then I get it back and it's ****. Pretty much had it with it so any advice would be good, or any thing I should check or areas that are known to be problematic wiring wise. Other than fixing it I might burn it it's that bad.

Does it stink of fuel when it cuts out?.

Not that I have noticed. What would cause that. I was thinking more towards electrical problem. Would the green connecter cause this problem even though I still have lights etc when it cuts out ?

This sounds like the same symptoms as carb's flooding but if your not smelling petrol it can be eliminated.

When I say won't restart, I mean you press the starter and it does nothing at all.. sometimes will turn over for a second, sometimes not. Sorry should of worded my original post better. :(

Common rubbing points on the curvy loom are under the riders seat (securing bolt is slightly too long) and around the headstock. Also make sure battery terminals are clean and tight.

Checked all those things. Just had it apart checking all connections are good which they are... pretty much stumped on what it could be.

Intermittent kill switch failure?
