How Long for Repair
So I had the misfortune to be knocked off in June (not my fault)
It had to go to the assessors and as it was more than 66% of the value of the bike i had to wait for the other parties insurance to say if they would fix or settle It turned out they wanted to repair Fair enough i thought i will have this back pretty quick Well it has been 4 weeks since they gave the go ahead to repair and they are still saying it will be anther 2 weeks until the parts are in It is just a 08 fireblade They are trying to blame the channel tunnel chaos as to the reason for the long delays for parts (not buying that at all) How long did it take an insurance company to fix your bike ? Just frustrated more than anything as i only tax it for 6 months of the year |
Re: How Long for Repair
Chuck in a claim for out-of-pocket expenses, such as public transport use, taxis and extra fuel for using a car, and for the unused tax period. See if that speeds it up.

Re: How Long for Repair
It can take up to 3 months to repair. The central stocks for bikes are in Germany and they're normally fed ex or DHL
Speak to the insurance company about getting that refunded Sent from my D2303 using Tapatalk |
Re: How Long for Repair

I just had a towbar delivered from Italy, ordered Thursday pm, dhl across Europe, delivered yesterday am. Calais is not the delay |
Re: How Long for Repair
I agree, load of balls. I ordered a Conti road attack from Tyreleader and it was sourced from deepest Bavaria. It took just 4 days to arrive.

Re: How Long for Repair
I don't believe the excuse of channel tunnel for one second
What grates me is that they say one date and then come up with another one when the original passes Sorry to hear about yours Ben I just want to get out and ride while the sun shines. |
Re: How Long for Repair
I'd advise them your not happy with the situation and will take the bike to a different garage to get repaired in a more timely manner. Then pass that bill over to them to pay.

Re: How Long for Repair
If you do that, the first garage is likely to charge you for storage and you would, in all likelihood, be required to pay it. Your insurer would probably refuse to pick up the charge as it is not directly related to the insured incident.

Re: How Long for Repair
Jerry, as it's not your fault have they supplied a replacement bike while yours is off the road ? If not, tell the insurers you need a bike and they need arrange one at no cost to yourself...
