smoke from exhaust manifold
Having fixed the cam chain tensioner issue, I am now getting different smoke. I cannot tell a specific leak from the engine, there is not oil deposited on the crank case as far as I can see.
However once revving under load it pretty quickly starts smoking from the exhaust manifold area. It may be coming out from where the front connector pipe meets the manifold. The smoke is white, its doesn;t particularly smell of oil. There doesn;t seem to be any smoke coming out of the back of the exhaust. There are no drips under the bike from when its been sitting, but taking it to its MOT and when I stopped there appeared to be some oil on the ground (only showing and discolouring to the puddle. Any ideas what this could be? |
Re: smoke from exhaust manifold
Could any oil have found its way into the exhaust pipe when you were doing the CCT job?
If some drips got in there, they would smoke until it was all burnt off .... |
Re: smoke from exhaust manifold
Quite a bit probably fell onto it when I was doing the job, but did my best to wipe it all off. I don't think any would have got inside.

Re: smoke from exhaust manifold
All you can do is clean everything and go for a short, slow ride and see what you see. Oil leaks can blow all over the place very easily in the wind. Check the half-moon portions of the rocker cover seal, these usually need a bit of gasket to help them seal properly, unlike the rest of it.
