Stupid oil checking question
Hey guys and girls, I cleaned my curvy yesterday and went to check the oil..
Now I am getting different readings if I check it on the paddock stand to if I just get my other half to hold the bike upright. What is the best way to check the engine oil? Paddock stand or not? Thanks |
Re: Stupid oil checking question
Both wheels on level ground with the bike upright. A mirror is useful.

Yep. If I fill mine with someone else holding it then check it on my ABBA stand, it looks overfilled therefore if I filled it on the ABBA stand, then rode it, I would have a lot less oil in the engine than is good for it - something that should be strongly avoided apparently.

Re: Stupid oil checking question
Thanks gents, you've confirmed what I thought.
When I had it on the paddock stand like you blapper it was reading over full which as you've said is nit ideal when you return it to a normal upright position |

Re: Stupid oil checking question
bike of flat level surface. put bike in gear. go to opposite side of bike from side stand. grab bar grip, stand back and pull bike over till upright. look at oil level. put bike back onto side stand. dont see what the need for an inspection mirror is.

Re: Stupid oil checking question
I don't know whether your pointy is the same as my curvy Bibio, but I have to peer through a hole in the fairing that is so far away from the glass and so low that one false move and the bike would be on top of me.
I get the wife to hold the bike vertical while I take a peek. |

Sit on bike. Lean over to the right and look at oil window. |
