Fake helmets

A lot of talk about fake and dangerous helmets circling the net so the question would you risk a cheap lid take a chance or play it safe at a bike shop. https://www.motorcyclenews.com/advic...-crash-helmet/

I would love some of the replicas for display purposes only, if it wasn't funding more manufacturing of shoddy lids..

Defo proper bike shop for a lid, every time. You can never be completely sure with mail order plus it might not fit.

Would it be justifiable if they marked them as purely decorative not for road use?

I have ordered online through sportsbikeshop because I knew my size and it was cheap just happened to work out well.

If they were marked like visors/exhausts etc when not for road use or for display only, I would say yes. Even if they came without anchor points or chin straps maybe

last week BBC East demonstrated how unsafe they are. They did the standard Sharp drop test on 2 of these fakes. They both disintegrated.
