How to diagnose squeak?
Hi
Bike suddenly has an intermittent squeak while riding along. Short squeaks. Not loud. Definately not the brakes. When the bike is stopped (engine off) if I push the suspension down at the rear I can't hear it, and if I push the forks down at the front I can't hear it. So I wonder how can I work out where it is coming from if it is only there when riding, and when riding it is too loud to isolate? Its an SV, AL7. Cheers! |

Ride down a bumpy hill with the engine off

Re: How to diagnose squeak?
the AL7 has a lot of plastic on plastic trim (sigh). Try spraying around tank trim area with a silicon based spray (or WD40 failing that), also look where cables change direction around the headstock. The seat rubbing against the tank used to be common on many bikes.
Annoying, isn't it? |
Re: How to diagnose squeak?
Its mice. Riding along wakes them up but stopping lets them sleep quietly. Stick a lump of cheese under the seat.
