sv650s L2 compatible shorty levers?

Hi,

I'm new to riding, and recently bought an sv650s L2 (2012) for my first big bike.

I would like some after-market shorty levers but can't find any sites that explicitly state compatibility with the L2 model. Looking at the specifications (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suzuki...Specifications) I can't see any difference in the brakes across the 2008-2014 models. And yet, for example, https://www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/mot...ontent_cat/664 has plenty of levers, but filter by sv650s > L2, and none are listed ("Unbreakable clutch and brake levers").

Has anyone added after-market levers to an L2? I would like to avoid cheap Chinese levers if possible.

ASV lists the same levers for SV650S K8 and SV650S L2 so I think they will all be the same

Re: sv650s L2 compatible shorty levers?

Hmmmm, filtering on the ASV site for a 2012 sv650s does yield a result for clutch (CRF330) and brake (BRF320): https://asvinventions.com/dmsearch/?q=BRF320+CRF330

So ASV suggests they're compatible but Sports Bike Shop suggests they're not. Interestingly, the results for the K8 and L2 on Sports Bike Shop differ, whereas on the ASV site they're the same:
  • ASV (L2): BRF320, CRF330
  • ASV (K8): BRF320, CRF330
  • Sports Bike Shop (L2): No results
  • Sports Bike Shop (K8): BRC520, CRC530

Actually, ASV only lists two brakes and three clutches for all Suzuki models:
  • ASV (Suzuki): BRF311, BRF320, CRF330, CRF340, CRF345

The fitting chart confirms the BRC520 and CRC530 fit all sv650s from 1999 - 2019 (inclusive)...seems too good to be true!

Just to check I'm doing this correctly, K8=2008, and L2=2012?

There does seem to be something strange about 2012 - 2016 bikes. A few sites don't seem to acknowledge them.

You are right about the years

Looks like Sports Bike Shop have them in, just no choice of wheel colour unfortunately:

ASV Brake Levers - BRC520

ASV Clutch Levers - CRC530
https://www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/mot...ent_prod/59813

...thanks for your help. I'll order them and update this thread with the result.

I had a cheap brake lever snap in my hand when I was just bleeding the brakes. Never again

to further muddy the water, here's the ASV installation guide for the BRC520 which contradicts the ASV application guide.

You could always contact ASV and ask them:

Re: sv650s L2 compatible shorty levers?

I asked Sports Bike Shop for clarification and they suggested I go with the fitting chart from ASV. Apparently they've had similar issues before and found the ASV fitting chart to be more reliable.

I then revisited this thread to update it, and read about the contradiction between ASV's fitting chart and installation guide :(.

I have contacted ASV and asked for clarification but have not cancelled my order with Sports Bike Shop in the hope that they're compatible.
