Re: Dlsr camera wanted
Have a look on camera jungle.co.uk. it's owned by Jessops and where part exchange cameras are sold on. Cameras have a guarantee too.
I'm a canon user so you could look at 700D or even the older 650D. There's plenty of lens choice for canon. Nikon also good, D3300 or similar, the D5300 is good too. |
Re: Dlsr camera wanted
Thanks John. Would you say 18mp on say a canon is better than one of those cheep digital things with 48mp you see on the bay?

Re: Dlsr camera wanted
I think the 48mp claim can be misleading. My phone has that but I prefer it set up a lower resolution.
The thing to consider is the sensor size. I had a 700D with 18mp but on an APS size sensor so each photo diode was reasonably large compared to say a phone or a compact camera resulting in better sensitivity. The processing of the image by the camera into a jpeg would be superior on a canon. So I'd go for a Canon at 18mp |
Re: Dlsr camera wanted
I had a 700D too. Excellent camera. You'll get better results with an enthusiast's DSLR like this paired with a good lens.

Re: Dlsr camera wanted
Thanks peeps. Its for someone else who wants to shoot things like scenery and sunsets as phone cameras dont cut the mustard for colour.

Re: Dlsr camera wanted
In which case I'd also suggest a simple tripod. Landscape pics benefit from one but they are a pain to lug about.
I've got a very simple Jessops brand six inch or so bendy-leg tripod I keep with my compact camera, and a (slightly larger) Gorillapod for my ILC camera. I've wrapped the legs of both around railings or the tops of bollards before now to get a nice steady shot and they they go into any backpack or big pocket. |
Re: Dlsr camera wanted
I'm a big fan of Fuji for ergonomics, and great lenses too. DSLRs are really big, I don't know why (well the mirror box but that's not all) and too many have the simpler functions buried in menus. It depends what you want to do, but I find my old X30 is still hard to beat.
