snorkel?? snorkelling?

Ok Ok - i give up - wot is it? wot does it do? shud I do it? wot will I gain>? do i need to raise the tank?

The snorkel is a rubber 'trunk' situated at the front of the airbox and extends fwd and down about 100mm.

You need to raise the tank to see it and you need to take off the top of the airbox to remove it.

I de-snorkelled and then re- snorkelled. (Then fitted Scorpion and K&N air filter)

Benefits with it off = hard to tell but it changes the sound and I prefer the sound with it on. Sounds a bit "farty" with it off

What its for - my best guess is it controlls the air flow to the airbox and that it should be there by design.

It's also to stop water getting into your air filter. I've had mine out for months and riden through the Scottish autumn (it's winter here already!), through some torential downpours and not had any problems.

Personally I think it sounds much better without, a lot more throaty (not farty!! ). If you get your chin down on the tank and open the throtle at low rev's, the bike sounds like a jet engine!!! Superb!

On the K3 it's easy to get the snorkle on or off cause it's made of a soft rubber and it bends out, if you've got a K2 though I think it's a cut-job.

Have tried the race SV on the dyno without and with. TBH there is not alot of difference in HP.

It is there to assist airflow and pressures into the airbox and TBH i would leave it in.

BTW the one off the SV1000 fits but has a larger opening,

I was wondering about that, I presume you can buy them... but for how much?

SV650Racer 16-10-04 05:09 PM

can get them for £22.72 plus £2 postage.

ask itchin2go as he can order them

You do not need tank spacers to remove the snorkel.

Enjoy the "farty" sound
