Engine trouble-PLEASE HELP!!!!

:?: :!: :?: :!:
Can anyone help me - I have an SV650S Suzuki, and it broke down the other day making loud "clattering" noises coming form the engine. When I got it home, to my dismay I found that it doesn't have alot of oil in it and have been informaed by a reputable dealer that it sounds like a Top-End Bearing!!!
Has anyone had this happen to them before? if so what did you do, as its bloody expensive. (I pulled up straight away, so hopefully the damage was reduced). Also if anyone is in my area, do you know of someone who can work on my engine, ie. strip it and replace/fix the damaged parts for cheaper than my local dealer (Shirlaws,Aberdeen - at £40 an hour just for labour).
Cheers!

If it were my engine I'd start looking for a second hand replacement. Around the 350 - 400 quid mark will get you a decent one. A lot less hassle and, potentially, a lot less money than a rebuild.

What's a top end bearing....???

I'd say it sounds like a big end bearing.... front cylinder if it has no oil it... say goodbye to your crank and conrods....

Put oil in it and see what happens...

Then get a used engine :D
I bet you could sell your old one for about 1/2 of what the replacement will cost. If you can find the problem sell all the other parts off... If you weren't a million miles away I'd offer you a $200-$300 USD without even seeing it...
