Bloody Knocking!
Hi All,
I am reasonably new to the SV world (SV650s K3 Silver). I have been riding a while now and have never experienced the front end knocking so much when I hit a sharp dip in the road. I have taken the bike to a dealer who said this is not uncommon on this model. I am still not happy with the way it feels. Is anyone else having this problem? Or could someone point me in the right direction. Thanks, |

I believe it's something to do with the brake-calipers and the pads therein, but I could be wrong. |
The SV comes with poor suspension. Its a known weakness I'm afraid.
This can be fixed for around £80-100 and a couple of hours of your time. |
I believe the saying goes...
'they all do that Sir'. :D You do get used to it. |
My mate's SK1 did it, and it was absolutely definitely the steering head bearing adjustment. Reset the bearings and the knock disappeared.
Not saying that's the problem on every bike though (damn this fence is uncomfortable! ) |
The clunking is coming from the head-stock... During the first service the headstock bolt should've been tightened, but is often forgotten.
Take it back to where you bought it (or a dealers) & get them to check the headstock is tightened to the right torque setting :!: |
