rust!!!!!!

I have a new k4 sv650 that has only 300 miles on it and has spent the last 4 weeks in the garage(hiding from the salt).

the bracket that holds the fork legs in place (positioned under clocks) has started to show signs of rust??????????????????????????

The only time its got wet is when I've washed it, anyone else had this problem.

Also been smothering the bike in scottoiler f365 spray and wd40 to stop
this.

whats the best thing to do??

The bottom yoke (aka triple clamp) is steel painted to look like aluminum. The paint they use is horrid crap... get a little sand paper or a sanding pen to remove the rust, then paint over the spots with a little brush and some better quality paint.

Rust inhibiting paint will work too without the need to sand, may not last forever though...

The spray products you mentioned will not work long term.

Would be very supprised if they do anything. Bet they say its just down to normal weathering conditions..

It can't count as fair wear and tear on a bike so new.
More than a couple of people have had things replaced because of pitting or rust.

I say get it back to the dealers, my K4 is a couple of months old and has seen every type of weather we get in Britain (ok, no hurricanes, but everything else) has done 5000 hard miles and no signs of corrosion, only the normal paint rubbing off the frame by the pegs.

I suppose you can only try...Doesn`t hurt any... Be interested to know what they say so get back to us,, yeah..
