Front Wheel Help Needed
 

I installed a new front tire and a new right side rotor on my 2000 SV650. When i put the wheel back on i spun it and everything was fine. I took it for a test ride and noticed a funny noise. I jacked the bike back up and found that the rights side caliper is dragging really bad. ANy one know what happened? Did one of my brake pads get off track? THe left side seems fine. Could it be my new rotor needs to be broke in?

when changing brake discs you should change both at the same time, failing that new pads on both side is the minimum, as the old ones will be profiled to the old discs.

Putting in new pads will mean they all have to be "bedded" in together and even out the braking forces.

dont know what a rotor is . but as rictus said - change both pads at the same time.

double check your pads are in place correctly and there isnt any freeplay that shouldnt be there - if everything is still ok - might be worth checking your wheel bearings.

It's what our American friends call brake discs.

aaaaah :) i get it now.

I took the caliper off today and the grinding was gone.... I pulled the old pads out and then put the caliper back on (finger tight). I spun the wheel and saw that the caliper itself is barely dragging against the disc. This makes me think that the wheel is off center... The axel does NOT go flush against the fork. You can still see a millimeter or two of the spacer. Everything is torqued down to the right numbers.... Whats up with it? ANy one else had this problem while removing the front wheel?
