spongy brakes mark 2
 

hello all. have fitted by sv with goodridge hoses due to the prev spongey brakes prob but to no availe there is little improvement, i have notice that the rubber seal that covers the prake lever piston (front brake) looks as if its worn with a visible hole. could this be why there is little pressure on the lever? any help pleeeeeeeeez

When was the last time you overhauled your calipers then? :lol:

I don't think that will be your broblem. If you mean the little bellows on the front brake lever. This is just a boot to keep the crud out. Spongey brakes will be down to air or water in the brake fluid or crappy hoses.

You've done the hoses so try rebleeding the little perishers. Once you have bled them, tie the front brake lever in the pulled back position to the handle bars and leave over night. The pressure in the system will cause all the air bubbles to rise to the reservoir and you should get a firm lever (oo'er misses).

Because of the pressure you should be able to identify any further leaks around banjos, seals etc.

If this doesn't cure the problem, it could mean a new seal kit for the calipers.

the calipers have been stripped and rebuilt with new seals just b4 xmas, fitted goodridge lines/hoses and bled the buggers and strapped the lever to the bar over night with no signs of leaks, so its a bluddy mystery.
