nearly dropped it this morning

the engine braking got the better of me - was only 20 yards from my front door doing all of 15 mph, went to close my visor, took my hand of the throttle (there's the mistake) and what with a cold engine the bike's engine braking was massive  like i'd thrown the brakes on. in front of the neighbours too!

another lesson learned

Will.

Yeah, I learned that one fairly quickly.

Now I see if I can get to work without having to use the brakes at all.

Wish I'd thought of that one last year...

Yep, I try to make a point of rolling off the throttle before removing my hand, rather than letting go completely. Hope you got away with it this time :)

yep when the engine is cold the engine braking can be harsh, I live on a hill, everytime I pulled away on a cold morning and put it into second the bike would really jolt harshly and no word of a lie everytime id get the equivalent of a slap in the ******** :x . Now im more experienced I make sure I slip the clutch when engaging second when its cold!

Its one way to learn I guess!
