Advice Needed.

Hi Folks

Its been a while since i posted on here, but would like your opinons please.
Im in the process of constructing an abba like stand, (bored on nights! ). But wish to put a length of 10mm bar through the swing arm pivot shaft and suspend the bike by this.

Now will this cause any problems to the swing arm pivot bearings by lifting and holding the bike by this part. How does the abba stand do it cos I cant find any relevant pics. A bloke in work reckons its ok cos it will get more punishment on the road with bumps etc.

Also one more, is the seat onthe naked and faired versions different in anyway. Just that mine (faired) looks different than some of the nakeds ive seen. Maybe ive got a lowered seat or something.

Thanks , any help would be much appreciated.

ABBA/NWS stands do hold the bike up using the swing arm pivot.

The ABBA also do a kit which I have so that you can fix the abba to the footpeg mounts and lift the bike. This way you can remove the swing arm/wheel and rear shock.

There is more info on http://www.abbastands.co.uk/

That's a good idea... Can't find anything on the site about it though- I'll want to get my swingarm coated at some point (it has a little damage that I DIDN'T DO before anyone asks) and that's teh only weakness of the Abba... You can get the shock and wheel out wth the standard stand BTW Grinch.

Surely you have to support the upper half of the bike independantly though, no?

So do you think me lifting the bike by a bar running through the swing arm pivot will damage anything (bearings in particular). Im not worried about getting the swing arm off, and it will be far sturdier than a normal paddock stand. Since the bike is never on a stand ease of use is not a great factor here.

Nope, the Abba supports the bike from teh swingarm axle so the suspension isn't under load and the wheel is off the ground.
