cheers for that...
loadsa info there to get started on.... |
Don`t forget the chicane between mansfield and the bottom of the mountain.
E-mail me and I`ll send you a video of a lap on a race bike. It`s so hard to learn, but easily the best track in our country to ride. The only reason it loses out to other tracks is cos of it`s safety issues. I also have a video containing all the tracks the BSB boys use. Get there as soon as you can, Cadwell is gr8. |
Charlies is actually 2 linked corners, starts off uphill. Then the second apex is as you come down the hill onto park.
On the way into park corner there are marker boards for braking references, they`re like one big dare for late breaking!! |
Oh and I dare you not to brake for Coppice!!
It`s an uphill corner, and if you turn in late after dropping a gear you hardly have to slow down. I`ve still not mastered it!! And neither had the instructor I was following last summer. Brilliant if you have the balls. I think the BSB boys go up it at 105-110mph. When you first go round you`ll slam the brakes on at the end of the straight and speed up round the corner, you have to ignore all your instincts. But once you`ve mastered it (after a year or two) it`s a great place to pass. |
This is one of those tracks I've been meaning to do for about 3 or 4 years now and never got around to.
Once I've tamed the beast a bit (switching to the triple for summer) and done Brands, Mallory and the ring in May, this is next. Cheers Mark. |

Coppice used to be the only place on the track where I had time to take my hand off the bar to wipe my visor when racing in the wet! |
Cadwell is a fantastic track indeed. The force squashing you into the seat half way down Park Straight and again as you pile into Coppice is incredible - on Park I line it up before you hit the bottom of the dip, then your chinbar hits the tank on the way back up. I was barrelling into Coppice about 85-90 but it takes a bit of getting your head around going in that fast - started at about 60 I think! Very technical, takes ages to get even some good lines let alone really good ones (Hall?).
Carl, any chance you can post links for your vids so we could download them? |
