Allen/Hex Key Set for SV650S
I want to get a decent allen key set rather than use those finger-wrecking/screw-rounding "L" shaped things that come with standard toolkits.
I was looking at something like this http://www.tool-up.co.uk/shop/diy/ALL619M.html but the price seems excessive. Having done some searching, I can't find much else. Does anyone know of another site which offers something similar but preferably cheaper? Thanks fellow SVers - roll on spring! |
I buy allen sockets from halfords instead

try these they have everything from casual right up to pro stuff
http://www.tooled-up.com/SubCategory...eferrer=google sift through the prices on some kit its reasonable too |
Allen sockets from Machine Mart, you get about 7 on a rail for something like a fiver, and they're as good quality as the Halfords ones...

if you're getting low price allen hex keys (and many are fine for occasional use), get black finish ones rather than plated. Plated allen keys are often not very durable (plating flakes).
Draper are a decent budget make. Halfords stuff is fine too. Basic metric hex key set up to 10mm should be £5 to £10 for decent quality (£10 gets you top quality like Facom/Britool for example here http://www.primetools.co.uk/system/index.html ) |
As others say, get a set of 1/2" or 3/8" drive mounting bits - whatever matches your socket set. You can then use your torque wrench with them when you drop your forks out to do the oil & springs.

Get a set of T handled ones. Give better tourqe on allen bolts etc. I have a set of draper ones which are fine, and larger ones i have in 3/8 sockets. Things like 6,8,10mm etc

All of my home tools are from the Halfords proffessional range, they are up to every job. Although I fancy some T-bar sockets and allen keys too.
Does Halfords sell the Tbar set up? |
