damn plastic bags

wonder if anybody else has had this problem. I was out on my sunday ride yestrday and as it was very windy a plastic bag blew inot my path, unable to avoid the bast*rd thing it got stuck to my down pipe from the front cylinder and metled to it  . This has caused horrible blackened plastic to be congealed around the pipe.

any suggestions on how to remove this safely without damaging the pipe?
:?:

This is how I deal with messes like that... (usually boot heel on my midpipe) I've got a titanium system so i can't really use abrasives without damaging the coating (or so I'm told) so I run the bike till it's hot, get on my brother's old welder's gloves, and variously scrape the crap off and rub it with a damp cloth. If it melted on, you can melt it off again.

But if you burn your arms off, don't blame me :) You wnt some properly heat-resistant gloves, that's for sure. I've done it with lighter insulated lighting rigger's gloves, and they worked but they got fairly toasty!

Patience my friend sh_te happens. It happened to me last year on my VS1400 beautiful chrome right side muffler and pipe. Industrial stength thick bag stuck like it was welded. I used a wide razor blade scraper laying it flat and holding it with a small vise grip. Don't dig in at to sharp of an angle and take your time. Did it when the bike had cooled down. I can't stand the smell of burning flesh especially my own.
Took me about an hour to scrap it off and chrome polish completed the job.
Cheers, Richard
