Petrol Gauge Light
I replaced my tank sender unit recently hoping it would solve the petrol tank light failing to illuminate. Sadly it hasn't.
I disconnected the tank sender unit, checked no voltage between the pins and shorted two of three. The light began flashing. I shorted the other two and the light became steady. So the electronics are working, as is the sender unit, but I'm still not being notified. Any ideas? I'm stumped. :( |

How do you know you haven't got a dodgy sender unit?

ROFL@ Carl.
Try checking the contact's in the connector. If it isn't that then im going with Couerdelion, probably a dodgy sender unit. Dan. |
Well i replaced my original with a one I bought from mike1943 (can't remember exact username) so it should be OK. Plus the sender unit is not exactly complex - petrol fills up the little barrels on it and it changes the resistance.

As for contacts, I've been using a screwdriver to short them out so I don't believe it's that.
If anyone has the tank off can they short out middle to either side to make sure its defo not my electrics. |
Accept it the bikes a write off.................
