R&G's - Tried & Tested !

**** of a pedestrian dashed across the road in front of me this morning

I was filtering along Queenstown Road (long straight road, bus lane on left, row of virtually stationary cars for about a mile), several feet to the right of the centre line, approx 20 mph, nothing coming towards me, trying to be a good boy after doing the bikesafe course on Sunday :D

spot the hazard - guy wearing a hoody coming between the cars, not running, just walking
move to right to give more room
start to brake
hit the horn
he doesn't look, keeps coming out
my speed now down to walking pace

manage to flatten him  , but go down as well

ba***rd gets up and runs off - I never did get to see his face

one indicator broken, scrapes & scuffs on the R&G's & my leathers (can protector did its job), left wrist hurts

very ****ed off
trying to ride responsibly, covering the horn (normally don't, but as this was picked up on the bikesafe course, now doing so)

I suppose the lesson to learn is that even though you may have spotted a hazard, and done something about it, it's still a hazard until you're well past it. Lack of experience I guess

D'oh bad luck!

Oh well, hopefully stupid people wont have stupid children (if they keep walking out into the road they wont anyway...)

Yell if you need any bits, dont think i have an indicator though, i've gone through about 3-4 on the sv
Dan

sorry to hear about your tumble, glad you're not hurt and damage sounds slight.

B*stard! No not you, the ped. Big sorry to hear this Toad, glad you're more or less okay and that the bikes only got a few street cred battle scars. Shakes you up though doesn't it.

My only critisism is that you clearly didn't hit him hard enough as he was able to get up and run off - I'm going to have dock you points on that one ;).

Oh and nice to see your avatar shows a wonderful sense of humour  . And yes if you need any help cleaning it back to shinyness you know where to come (though I have to say there's a queue forming at present  ).

Nice try Toadie, remember to throttle up next time and catch him on the jaw with the front wheel. Better luck next time.

 yea

Damn, and right after the bike safe course. Still, 1-0 to the R&G's

Simon,

Glad you're alright, but sorry to hear about your experience - could have happened to any of us!

In so many ways it would've been better to hit the guy, or at least give him a kick in the nuts as you rode past.
