GSXR Shock
Folks,
Anybody got any ideas on the pros & cons of having this fitted? Is there a lot of work involved? I've read previously about the battery tray being in the way? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...sPageName=WDVW |
That's a GIXXER6 shock I think... My K3 GIXXER1000 shock has a yellow spring... It's well worth the mod though  Easy to do too (especially if I can do it )

Take a look at this http://www.kuhnco.com/SV650/GSXRShockSwap/
A GSXR600 spring would probably be a bit soft for most people. Still an improvement over the stock SV spring, though. |
The battery tray will get in the way, but a hacksaw will soon fix that  Having to cut the battery tray is about the only con - the pros are having a better quality and more adjustable shock.
Have you fixed the front end first? You should do this because the front is in far more need of being fixed, and you won't appreciate doing the back as much otherwise. If you've got all the tools/bits you'll need ready (you'll need a new bolt for the bottom of the shock) it can probably be done in an hour or two. If you're new to this kind of thing, I'd aim to do it over a weekend - it's not something you want to rush. Also, I presume you have a K3/4/5, as I don't think it'll fit a curvey. |
or you could try the ZX636 shock like I'm going to...
you need a ZX636 B1H 2004 model. and this guide... http://www.svrider.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=24059 |
Have to confess that I haven't sorted the front end yet, tho I did change the oil last night.
Gonna give this one a little more thought as there is a common perception that the front needs attention first and I think thats where Im gonna spend my money! |
I think the front end is certainly in more need of fixing.
I only bought a gsxr shock because I managed to snipe it for £10. I won't bother fitting till I do my spring clean and sort the fork springs out. |
GSXR Shock
I just got a 98 GSXR 750 Shock for my 2000 SV650 . . . I need alittle info.
Some stupid ???'s i should know. . . What is SRAD. What is K2,K3 etc.? Ok, i am losing weight, but i am approx. 300#s as of right now. also many times my girlfriend likes to tag along on rides and she is another 120#'s. I know i am overloading the shock as it is and need to know if the stock GSXR Shock is going to ride worse or better than the Stock SV shock. Or maybe i could take the spring from the sv shock and get it installed on the gixxer shock?? What are some ways to fix the front shocks of my bike?? Do i need new springs. Thanks. |
Seen a mint GSXR1000 K1/K2/K3 shock on ebay.
The guy says that its mint with only 500 miles done. There is lots of info on the site about shocks but i can mainly only find it about K3-K4 not K1-K2 curvey bikes. Will it fit a K1-K2? He is asking for £50 for it. http://i4.ebayimg.com/01/i/03/95/44/39_12_sb.JPG |

£50 is pricy though - I got my K3 one for £24 :!: P.S. I'm not sure whether it'll fit on a K1/K2 SV, but I'm sure someone will come along with an answer for that ;) |
